Bracing for the Smear
A late night call from Jesse Brown
Canadaland podcaster Jesse Brown called me at 11 p.m. Thurdsay night to ask for comment for a story accusing me of posting on Canadaland’s subreddit. I don’t know what the posts say and I didn’t ask.
Brown listed several Reddit names that I have never heard of.
For the record:
* I have never posted on Reddit.
* I have never had a Reddit account.
* I have read some Reddit threads after finding them on Google.
* I have never seen the Canadaland subreddit
That’s the sum total of my exposure to Reddit.
I am prepared to swear to that, any time, any place.
I told that to Brown.
In his universe, he’s always right. A denial, even as categorical as that, does not seem to be enough to prevent him from doing whatever he’s going to do.
Jesse, you haven’t met the threshold of the responsible communication defence. And your credibility was shot years ago.
I’d go on Reddit to find out what he’s on about, but why bother? It’s late and I have a busy day tomorrow.
He did send a link to a picture of me. It is from my high school year book.
That’s pretty creepy.

I’m sorry that’s happening to you Mark. Clearly you have a lawsuit on your hands if he proceeds.
Can you give us more information as to what his issue was? Posting on the subreddit alone doesn't seem to be enough to illicit a reaction - curious if he referenced any specific material that had been posted
